Option 1 –
Phentermine + Metformin – Phentermine works by suppressing your appetite. This allows you to eat less and follow your body cues more for eating habits. This also reducing “food noise” which is when your mind is always telling you to eat. You do have to be able to maintain a certain amount of calories even with your appetite being suppressed in order to lose weight. Metformin is a diabetic medication that is safe for nondiabetic medications to use. With this medication being for diabetics it works on the underlying insulin resistance which is what makes losing weight so difficult. It has some weight loss side effects but minimal so I do not recommend this medication alone. This combination is nice because its more affordable for many at $150/month and its a oral combination. You would work up to taking 1 phentermine every morning and 1 metformin twice a day. Side effects of this combination are nausea, constipation, diarrhea, heart racing, feeling jittery.
Option 2 –
Semaglutide – This is the generic version of Ozempic and Wegovy. This is an injectable medication that you would inject yourself with once per week. It is given with a very tiny insulin syringe and easy to learn to administer it to yourself. It is also a diabetic medication and safe for nondiabetics in use of reducing insulin resistance, preventing diabetes, and weight loss. It also has cardiovascular benefits. This medication may take a little longer to see weight reduction as it is working more metabolically initially. After the first month, we are able to ramp up the dosing a bit faster to get to weight loss dosing. This option is more pricey at $399/month. However, this is one of the best weight loss medication to ever come to market. Side effects are Nausea, constipation, and diarrhea. This medication also makes you feel full which helps you reduce your calories. This medication also helps reduce “food noise”.
